Oct 16 13 Muse Is Making Me Post About Fleetwood Mac

Is it not clear, once one becomes familiar with Peter Green and the one true Fleetwood Mac, that Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham ruined a perfectly great band?  Doubt me?  doubt away, doubters, while listening to Fleetwood Mac play Black Magic Woman, which is Peter Green’s song.  Though verily Santana smokes it way hotter.  Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were something a-sprout o’ the Eagles, though far less pedigreed.  Their country folk pop might have been akin to Linda Ronstadt, and it was not without artfulness. Long Distance Winner is probably the best example. Click on it just to see their baby faces on the cover of their debut album Buckingham Nicks . Pleasant listening.  But Lindsey Buckingham.  He is listening to his own muse, and it’s not the blues, and ultimately whether or not Mr. Buckingham is in actual fact an airhead, the move toward studio pop and away from the blues completely transformed Fleetwood Mac from music for your ear inside your brain, to, you know, the thing it became.  I often wonder what Mick Fleetwood felt, drumming Rhiannon at a hundred dollars a clack.

Mystery To Me is a not to be missed record, complete with gorgeous album art, made espcially to be butterfly sleeve album art and stunning music, take a listen to Hypnotized.  More attention ought to be paid, as well, to the talented Christine McVie, nee Perfect, who is an actual and factual composer musician, who was playing with a strong group that made the best of her work, until she became the less pretty other of  a pop drama.  To her credit, Ms. McVie had no celebrity about her and played not the silly game.  Did not and probably won’t ever make a music video singing on a treadmill in front a fan.  The fall of Fleetwood Mac from music to ear candy was a canary in the coalmine foreshadowing of 80’s trouble with a lot of musically intelligent popular musicians, like cough cough Stevie Wonder, and Steve Winwood, even Clapton a little bit with all the unplugged money.

Also is the piece in the room in the gallery and why the GodShampoo now instead of next week.  Maximal.  It shows?
