SECOND DOG. I envision NewDog as a constant companion, in the passenger seat everywhere I drive, heeling like a normal canine citizen; waiting outside stores and coffee shops for me like the dogs in training videos. I already have an unspoken psychic agreement with NewDog that he is infallibly house trained. he is well-mannered with other dogs and never ugly in any way. he will come to the studio and not screw up my work. he will not prance around all ADD restless, panting for the ever-anxious what’s-next, and blowing up junkyard-style when someone knocks. I realize I have to make room in my day for this dog, too. okay. I sure hope my two large German Shepherds get along. I vibe NewDog the unequivocal command to teach OldDog how to behave, since she has a learning disability that prevents her from comprehending humans.
