I was in the library at Ebenezer church last week, and on the wall hung a fabric scroll that was the winter and summer schedules of the monk. rising at 1:30 am, yes indeed, for prayer and meditation and writing and then food then work and then prayer and work and prayer and work and then washing and then eating and then more prayer and meditation finally laying to rest at 8 pm. sleeping until 1:30 a.m. get up and do it again. for what? plum wine? goat cheese? writing? to give the rest of the humans something not to be doing while scavenging for more?
